3 November 2007

Sorry fans, but I seem to somehow forgotten to write on my blog so here goes;

I have just woken up and finished my 'oatabix' (as I am not good with wheat) and then I had a cuddle with my cat Jasmine on the sofa. It is a bit of a ritual we go through week-end mornings, she has tinned tuna and I have oatabix. This morning is somehow different though, as I am shortly getting ready to drive to Ravenscourt Park tube station and walk down to Hammersmith tube and make my way up to The Emirates, Arsenal's home turf, and watch a very very important game against Manchester United. My heart is racing as I write this, thank God I am watching it with 60,000 other fans as to watch a game like that on the telly is far from easy. Hopefully I will post good news later on to-day or a depressing one on Sunday.....

I went a Greek island in September called Lemnos, very unspoilt and rural, very pretty in some places and a wonderful beach which we had to our self as the season was coming to an end. I used sit at 'Mano's Bar' every lunch time eating a greek salad and taking in some cold beer looking at the scenery before me. Very tranquil.

My niece Elinor

My niece Elinor is now 18 years old and have grown so much that I no longer recognise her from that little girl who, when Father Christmas arrived those years ago in their house in Oslo Christmas Eve( I think she was she was about five at the time) she was so frightened that she jumped onto my lap to feel safe. Other stories could be told, but to I think it only fair that I should save her blushes. Her paternal grandparents adore her and think she is very clever and brave not to mention BEAUTIFUL (??) obviously not biased at all.

She has recently returned from Kansas having spent a whole year at college and probably finds Oslo very different to when she left. I hope she uses her time wisely and don't make any wrong decisions. Follow your heart not your head I say, and that way the right decision are always made. I hope she continues her travels and seeking further knowledge of the world before settling down to living her life.

June thoughts

Well, we are almost at the end of June 2007, how time flies. It feels as if I only just woke up on New Years day and turning over in bed and it is now end of June for Christ sake!!! Is it as you get older passing that number (40) time seems to fly by? Suddenly I feel this great urge to see everything and experience everything, but fearful time (not to mention money) wont allow me the pleasures I long for. My problem is not feeling comfortable enough to do the things I want to on my own, do I need counselling? Maybe,but, not sure, it certainly seems fashionable now a days to seek some sort of help for whatever you think might need an expert analysis of. Not sure that would be appropriate for me though, I think I am beyond help, well, that's what they say at work at least.

For those who follow football will by now know that Thierry Henry has left Arsenal for Barcelona, so maybe that is why I feel such ''emptiness'' and loss of interest in things in general. The worst part of it all is that this year I have spent a fortune on a season ticket for 2007/2008 season at the Emirates stadium (Arsenals home ground) which I paid for BEFORE I knew Henry was leaving. God knows, how his void will be filled, but I do have great faith in the manager (Arsene Wenger) and trust he knows what is best for the club (I am crossing my fingers as I write this).

The rain has now settled itself above the British Isles, and it seems that it is here to stay throughout the whole of July, mind you, when you work it doesn't seem so bad, maybe it will get better for August.

12 May 2007

The week has been slow, rain and much colder than of late. This week-end sees the end of this years Premiership and Manchester United have officially won the league (with some help from Arsenal when Chelsea drew against the big 'A' at the Emirates last Sunday) and I am going to miss Mondays when everyone in the office discusses the games and how much better teams could play if only .... we are talking 'middle aged slightly over weight males here who often become 'experts' when analysing games, very enjoyable. Sitting here watching Sky Sport 1 where every Saturday morning the show Soccer am have guests and discussions on football plus interviews with big stars and managers, I am going to miss the show during the summer, can't wait for August when it all starts again. Next week-end sees Man U against Chelsea in the FA Cup final that hopefully Man U will win and that then leaves Chelsea with just the Carling Cup as silver wear this year (even after spending £200 million !!!), and next year (when Arsenal's injured players return fully fit) should see a BIG challenge to the 1st spot in the league AND we also have the Champions League to win and maybe 2008 is going to our year!!! A special mention to Arsenal Ladies who have brought not only 1 BUT 4 silverware to the club this year in winning amongst others the Ladies Premier League, Ladies FA Cup, Ladies European Championship, etc. Well done I say!!!

Hottest Summer Ever 2007?

The weathermen are predicting the hottest/ warmest summer ever on record for 2007? I am not too sure how it is possible to predict warm summers so far ahead of time, it only takes the wind to suddenly turn and cold weather/rain could be on its way, BUT if we do have a warm summer who would complain??? It is just a shame that we have to work when the weather is nice. Maybe they should make allowances for older birds and let us work less hours on the same pay (don't think that will happen somehow...) at the moment the sun is shining and it is said that this week-end is going to be sunny and warm reaching up to +26c so I think a I need to buy in some Rose wine and chill out in the garden.
